If we can learn anything from the year 2020, I think we can say, it's a year of revelations. It's been a nasty one. Lots of news filling up inside us, so much information and so many things being revealed. Whether it's in our own lives or the lives of others. It's clear, 2020 has a plan. And it is to make paths straight.

In my readings this morning, I'm back in the book of ecclesiastes. It has come to be one of my favs. Boy. If you ever need that reminder of how all things in life truly have a purpose, dive into the life of King Solomon. A man who seemed to have it all. But in the end, having it all didn't matter. He was on a mission to understand the purpose of life, apart from God. And through that mission he realized having everything "under the sun" meant nothing, but having faith and wisdom from God... was everything he would ever need.

We are all on a mission right now to work through this life, trying to figure out one day to the next. Get from here to there.

In the end though, we leave with nothing but the souls we sculpted while we were here. That's a hard pill to swallow somedays. One day, it's all, just gone.

But our souls...

Live on forever.

Just think our mission while we are here truly does have purpose. And that purpose is to lead us home to our Lord. And if we allow that work to be done, sooner rather than later, this life we live, "under the heavens, under the sun," truly does have the ability to be one of such great joy while we live it. Even in all the chaos.

I encourage you to read about King Solomon if you haven't. Dig into his teachings. And let's make 2020, as painful as it has been and may still be, a year of making our own paths straight. A year where we can repent joyfully for the mistakes we may of made, renew or minds and focus on the one thing pure that should keep our days fulfilled.

Our Lord Jesus.
