Stay humble always
.
Can you imagine?! Being mocked the way he was? Having rocks hurled at you and people laughing and criticizing you non-stop?! And yet, while this continued throughout his journey to lead others "he did not threaten but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly."
When we were children we would hear the little rhyme, "sticks and stones may break our bones but words will never hurt us." But, sadly, they did. The words of others can nearly beat our spirits down just as harshly as those sticks and stones can batter our bodies. But here in this verse we are reminded of the strength it must of taken to fight through it all. Jesus knew. He KNEW there was something greater on the other side of all the afflictions he was facing. He knew that he had to put his trust in the Lord and keep all the other outside noise from inside his heart. Otherwise, his mission would be disrupted.

If you are facing a battle in your life and feel the mockery from others or even that small voice in your head trying to keep you from growing, remember this verse.
In 1 Peter, we are called to remember when Jesus was able to put that shield around his heart and push through, knowing the only person he needed to please was his Father. Haters, they gonna hate, y'all. But God, He loves you through and through and not only does He want you to succeed, but He wants you to grow in His spirit so that you can share it with others. Spread His word and way of life so that others want to be a part of the kingdom as well.
Before you fight back with words, be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to be angry--> James 1:19. Because to make a change, you have to break the cycle.
