This verse has been on my mind so often.

We are a world full of so much wisdom and knowledge. And yet, it seems as though the more we know, the more stress, anxiety and worry we are impressing upon ourselves. The more we try to make things right, the more complicated we can make it.

When I look at my children, I see this innocence, this pureness. It takes me back to my childhood. It makes me remember the days when all the troubles of the world were basically transparent to me. The things that concerned me were so minute!

Jesus tells us in this verse, "Become like little children." He reminds us, keep things simple! Stay humble. Stay innocent and pure.

When I look at my children, I am reminded, I am the one who is showing them how to see this world. How to grow in this world. How to stay strong, in this world. It is my responsibility as their parent to lead them. Yet, crazy thing is, the more I set back and just watch them, I realize... They are the one's teaching me.

The resilience of children is outstanding. The way they are able to rebound, shake things off, let things go... Incredible.

We can learn a lot from these little people.

We can also impress a lot more than we need to on them.

Today I pray...

Dear Lord,

Help me strive to be more childlike. Help me to see the ways my mind has led me astray from living a life that keeps me from being focused on you. Help me to raise these children, so that they too can keep their vision, their purpose in life, focused on you.

Amen
