He is the very reason for this season

Today I woke up, ready to tackle the day. And just as the year has been, distraction upon distraction kept me from the tasks I had in mind. It's been a fight all year to do the things I normally would (even just typing these thoughts out lately has been a real struggle!) The challenges have truly been paralyzing at times. But as any human would, I just keep trying.
With all the kids home today, I decided I am going to do my very best not to let all the crazy get to me. And boy the day, as usual, has really put up a fight. To lighten the mood, I decided let's throw on some Christmas music!!
And then, it happened.
He showed up.
The peace in the crazy.
The reality check in the madness.
The calm to the storm.
And it hit me hard.
It's amazing how a song can do that to you.
Something struck me in my heart so deep when this song came on.
No matter how hard things have been for us all, God showed us when He sent His ONLY son into a sin filled world how to keep the faith in Him. And Him alone.
This year, this holiday season, it's not going to be like any other. As we all watch across the world, the things we normally do continue to be adjusted in a way that just doesn't feel right. In a time we feel so confused, lost and broken already, it seems as though things just keep piling up. We all want normalcy. We all want things to be good again. And, we all want it now.
Likewise, we are ALL facing these crazy challenges, we are ALL in unknown territory. But here's the point I hope we can see. We ARE ALL in it. We are ALL doing our best with what we are being dealt and shown. And in the most incredible way, I fully believe we are ALL fighting for something bigger than we even realize in the way He needs us each to do.
Listening to this song, I am reminded now more than ever, we must look to Our Creator for guidance.
Jesus came into this messy world to save us. It wasn't some perfect birth plan in a well equipped hospital. His life was difficult. He was condemned for the truth He spoke. People refused to believe Him. They thought He was crazy! Yet, He NEVER stopped fighting. He never gave up. And still to this day, we have the story of His life to turn to. As I continue to study and read all parts of scripture, it's so incredibly evident to me. He has it all laid out for us! All we have to do is look! It's just spectacular!
By God's grace and teachings, we all get the same opportunity to love each other as He loves us. To grow. To be patient with each other as we work through these trying times. To help guide one another in a way that He showed us. To give each other grace upon grace as He does endlessly for us.
Today I pray.
Dear Lord,
As we edge closer to this holiday season, now more than ever before, I can see we need you immensely. You taught us that even in a world full of messiness and pain, if we keep our eyes focused on you, you will show us the way. I hope we can keep envisioning you through the difficulties, keep that faith that your purpose and plans are always at work. I pray we can all give each other grace upon grace, as you have given us, as we continue to learn and grow, each of us in the very time you need us too. And most importantly I pray that during this holiday season, you continue to reveal your light as you show You are the very reason for the existence of everything. You are the very reason for this season. You are the reason for it all.
Amen.
