Today's not so gentle reminder... It's not about you. I remember hearing this for the first time when it actually felt painfully right. It's not about me. For so many years everything I did somehow managed to be based around what would make me feel good, what felt right to me, how would it affect me, would this make things harder or better.... For me. And still to this day, it's a battle I have to keep a watchful eye on. Being a follower of Christ is not for the faint of heart. We walk behind him, striving to understand what his will for our life is. And whilst doing that, we find more out about ourselves that needs healed along the way.

In Luke Chapter 9, Jesus tells his disciples they must deny themselves, take up HIS cross and follow him. Because the ways of this world aren't what bring true everlasting life to our souls. His ways are. In order to become more Christ like, we must leave behind the desires of this world and become givers of life as we know it through his name. Not our own. It's a tricky and confusing path to follow. One we can get lost on, every day. Jesus tells his disciples to leave everything behind and go ahead of him preparing others for his coming. And in order to do that, it can't be about them. It must always be about him. How he changed their hearts and healed others to bring peace into this world. How his ways led them to survive, even through all the crazy. So we must continue striving to be who he needs us to be, through his name, not our own. Although he loves us and needs us more than ever, when we make our life's journey about the well being of others before ourselves, we in return are taken care of. We just have to keep striving to do it, in Jesus' name. For HE is the way, the truth and the light.
